Non-Surgical
RADIOFREQUENCY ABLATION
Serving Phoenix, AZ & Surrounding Areas
Radiofrequency spinal ablation is a non-surgical procedure, which is highly-effective for treating neck and back pain. It can be performed in a minimally invasive manner and is ideal for treating various conditions such as facet joint pain, sacroiliac joint pain and other common conditions. During the procedure, the patient’s nerve is treated by heating up the surrounding tissue. The procedure is performed at our Phoenix area office, and can provide patients with roughly 6-12 months of relief.
Our patients often return to work or normal activities the next day but are advised to take it easy on the day of the procedure. After the procedure, you will be given a short time to recover to allow the sedative medication to wear off. Patients may experience pain for a couple of weeks, before the spine pain gradually decreases.
“The entire experience from scheduling an appointment to walking out the door was fantastic. You really get the sense that this is a world class practice. They made me feel welcomed and did not rush through the visit. He, and his PA, answered all my questions and ensured I understood the prognosis and all possible directions of care moving forward. I’m very happy we came across SPS.”

More About Radiofrequency Ablation
What if radiofrequency ablation doesn’t work?
Although it usually takes around 10 days for pain relief to start, it can take up to three weeks for some people to start feeling better. Some people will experience a small amount of pain in the days following the procedure, but this will eventually decrease as time goes on. If you are concerned with persisting pain following the procedure, consult with Dr. Minesh Zaveri. We often suggest that you wait a couple of weeks to see if your pain gets better.
In other cases, the treatment may be repeated to try and get the targeted nerve signals to work properly. A radiofrequency ablation procedure is known to be about 70% successful for people who are suffering from arthritis and other common joint, back and neck pain. If radiofrequency is not effectively treating your pain, surgical spine treatments may be recommended.
